| Abstract | Este trabalho analisou a evolução do rio Branco baseado na caracterização dos depósitos aluvionares em seu baixo curso, integrando dados geomorfológicos, geocronológicos e sedimentológicos. Três unidades foram mapeadas e datadas por carbono-14 e LOE. Foi constatado que as idades variaram de 15.500 anos AP ao atual. Caso tenha ocorrido uma captura da drenagem rio Branco para a bacia dos rios Negro/Amazonas, como sugerido na literatura, tal evento pode ter ocorrido há somente 15.500 anos AP. ABSTRACT: This study aimed to analyze the Branco River evolution based in the alluvial deposits characterization on its lower course, integrating geomorphological, sedimentological and geochronological data. Three units were identified and dated by carbon-14 and OSL. Ages ranged between 15,500 yr BP to the present. If there was a capture of the Branco River to the basin of the Negro/Amazon River, as suggested in the literature, such an event may have occurred there are only 15,500 yr BP. |
